We were invited by Nissan Design Center (NDC) in London to help their mostly European designers, understand the key concepts and themes of Japanese art & craft culture.
Using our tacit knowledge of Japanese culture, alongside research, workshops, lectures and visual materials, we worked with NDC London to uncover ‘The Essence of Japan’.
The results were used to communicate this ‘Essence’ in the design implementation of vehicles for the European market, and to differentiate Nissan in a crowded market.
ロンドンにあるNissan Design Center(NDC/日産デザインセンター)のご要請により同社において主に欧州出身者で構成されているデザイナーチームの方々へ、日本の美術工芸の主要コンセプトとテーマに理解を深めていただくためのサポートを行いました。
サポートの提供にあたっては、リサーチ、ワークショップ、講義と視覚素材に加えて、弊社に深く根差した日本文化に対する深い知識を活用することで、NDC Londonと共同で「日本文化の本質」をひも解くことができました。
かかるサポートは、この「本質」を欧州市場向けの自動車デザインに落とし込む際に用いられ、競合ひしめく市場において日産自動車の差別化を図るために弊社の知識が活用されました。
